In his new role, Latif plans to create a structured player pathway aimed at identifying and developing young talent and preparing them to become match-ready professionals for the franchise.
“My vision is to build a clear player pathway that turns raw talent into match-ready professionals for Team Rawalpindi,” Latif said. “This pathway will begin with a strong nursery for emerging talent, grow through structured school cricket programs and be backed by long-term cricket infrastructure development.”
He emphasized the importance of modern game understanding and focused growth to create a continuous talent system that keeps Rawalpindi competitive for years to come. Latif will oversee the implementation of these development programs and work to strengthen the franchise’s long-term foundation.
Rawalpindi’s entry into the league follows Walee Technologies’ record-breaking purchase of the Multan Sultans franchise rights for Rs. 245 crore, making it one of the new entrants in the PSL for the 2026 season.
The new ownership group chose to relocate and rebrand the team as Rawalpindi, officially ending Multan’s tenure in the PSL and giving the twin cities their own franchise.
The team’s home ground will be the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and Mohammad Rizwan is expected to lead the side in its inaugural campaign.
The upcoming season, which begins on March 26, will feature an expanded eight-team format, including the newly added Sialkot Stallionz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen.
