Consumers in Punjab will receive a price reduction of Rs. 10 to Rs. 16 on every one kilogram or one liter pack of ghee and cooking oil during Ramadan.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Salma Butt announced the relief after a meeting with representatives of the Pakistan Ghee Mills Association. Punjab Food Authority Director General Asim Javaid also attended the meeting.
She said the discount will apply to all one kilogram and one liter packs of ghee and cooking oil throughout Ramadan. She added that if international palm oil prices decline further, the government will consider additional price reductions in consultation with industry stakeholders.
Salma Butt said the government has also sought recommendations to further improve the quality of ghee and cooking oil available in the market.
PFA Director General Asim Javaid said modern and cost effective methods are available to reduce trans fatty acids and that testing and quality control mechanisms are being upgraded in line with international standards.
He warned that authorities will take strict action against the sale of substandard products. Representatives of the ghee mills assured the government that they will ensure an adequate supply of quality products in the market during Ramadan.

These jokes with the public must come to an end. Reduction of Rs. 10 today, increase by Rs. 20 tomorrow. And the public enjoys getting fooled on all occasions.
Don’t worry, the govt. Is already on its way to give a massive economoc pain and is going to abolish subsidy for under 300 electricity units…
