OGDC Signs Deal With French Company to Unlock $460 Million From Mature Oil Fields

OGDCL has signed a major agreement with French company SNF S.A. to install advanced water injection systems at its Kunnar and Pasakhi oil fields, a move expected to generate $460 million in additional revenue.

The project will enhance production by adding around 9 million barrels of oil and 3 billion cubic feet of gas over the life of the fields, according to the company’s statement.

The initiative is also expected to improve the recovery factor by 8 to 10 percent, enabling more efficient extraction of resources from existing reservoirs.

The project will be implemented in three phases. The first phase includes installation and commissioning over nine months, followed by a two-year operations and maintenance period during which technical support and training will be provided to OGDC staff.

After this phase, operational control will be transferred to OGDC, allowing the company to run the system independently. The facilities are designed to operate for around 20 years.

The agreement was signed in Islamabad in the presence of Federal Minister for Energy Ali Pervaiz Malik, OGDC Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak, and French Ambassador Nicolas Galey, along with senior officials from both organizations.

The project is part of efforts to enhance production efficiency and maximize output from existing oil and gas fields through modern technology.
