Federal Minister for Power Awais Leghari has issued directives to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during Sehr and Iftar throughout Ramazan.
The Power Division has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all power companies, including K-Electric, instructing them to prioritize uninterrupted supply during peak Ramazan hours.
Leghari has directed all Distribution Companies (DISCOs) to immediately address and resolve complaints from electricity consumers and instructed their CEOs to establish dedicated control rooms for monitoring and coordination.
The directives also emphasize managing high-loss areas in line with the ongoing anti-power theft campaign. While load management will be implemented in these areas, no load shedding will be carried out during Sehr and Iftar.
The Power Division clarified that load adjustments in high-loss areas will be carried out only outside Sehr and Iftar timings, and DISCOs have been directed to avoid unannounced power outages to prevent inconvenience to consumers.
The decision also aims to prevent an increase in arrears and financial losses within the power sector during Ramazan.
