The Islamabad Traffic Police on Tuesday launched the “Uraan” Scooty and Motor Riding School for women to promote safe riding and address mobility challenges faced by female commuters.
Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi inaugurated the facility at a ceremony held at the Islamabad Traffic Police Headquarters in Faizabad. Senior police officers, women personnel, participants, and citizens attended the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, the IGP said the Uraan initiative aims to provide structured driving training for women. Under the program, participants will receive instruction in riding scooties and motorcycles as well as driving cars.
He said the initiative marks a step toward ensuring safer and more independent travel for women in the federal capital. He added that the project focuses on equipping women with practical skills to improve their mobility.
The Uraan Scooty and Motor Riding School features a dedicated driving track and practical training facilities built to modern standards. Female instructors will conduct the training sessions. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive formal certificates.
Officials said the facility will serve female students and working women from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, helping them develop riding and driving skills in a structured environment.
