Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon has announced that the M-Tag requirement will now be extended to motorcycles in the federal capital.
According to the statement, the process of affixing M-Tags on vehicles is continuing successfully, and in the second phase, installation for motorcycles will begin from 10am on February 20.
Motorcycle owners will be able to obtain M-Tags from 13 designated points across the city by presenting their registration documents and national identity card. The decision will apply to all types of motorcycles, including regular bikes, Bykea motorcycles, heavy bikes and all other categories.
According to Memon, more than 600,000 vehicles have already been issued M-Tags so far. The registration process for Bykea and online taxi services is being carried out separately.
The deputy commissioner said the measures aim to enhance security and ensure safer travel within the city. He urged citizens to cooperate with the ongoing M-Tag campaign.

Motor cyclists also need to be disciplined to use the assigned lane. They have become a hazard for other commuters and are causing accidents every now and then.
In the lanes assigned there needs to be bikes only, no 4 wheelers should be allowed too. Right.?
If so, there should be a separate lane where cars cannot enter.
Forget assigned lane, they shouldn’t use non designated spaces like shoulders.
Gov is too relaxed
Yes it’s right, but similarly the other vehicle drivers are also need not to use the biker lane for any reason. I’m experiencing it on daily basis and forced to leave the biker lane and move in the main stream.
Cars drivers use very abusive languages in Pakistan. These cars drivers dont follows traffic rules in Pakistan same people when driving in Gulf follow the rules and also pay fines upto 50K without any trouble.
You should need to talk about those drivers who do not obey the rule.
And the harshly driven cars are also the hazard for bikers, vice versa.
M- Tag has worsen the flow of traffic at Faizabad especially and computers are being suffered from hypertension. Govt should facilitate the public rather to penalize by financial, physical and mental agony.

I feel extremely sorry and embarrassed when I see motorcyclists (carrying ladies) driving in first lane and changing lane frequently to make their way. There is no discipline for them. Moreover, 90% motorcycle are in bad conditions (no indicators, no back light, no number plate, broken mudguards and chain covers), even running in red zone. Is there any authority to implement rules on them?
Police should focus on better traffic management rather than making money on petty issues. These days traffic jams are so common in Islamabad that commuting became hassle itself
Notice no mention of 3 wheeler passenger and loader Rickshaws. 80% of which have no plates ( means they pay no road taxes, can’t be apprehended for traffic violations, or accidents. Traffic laws mean nothing to them. THEY should be subjected to on spot mechanical inspections.
The day is not so far when the pedistrians will also be M-Tagged on their foreheads to enter in Islamabad.

Until and unless management and administration of such initiatives is based on verifiable actions, responsibility, timelines etc the results can not be achieved. Those entrusted with such responsibilities lack skills and motivation.
