On the directions of Commissioner Engineer Aamer Khattak, who also serves as Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), authorities conducted a large-scale anti-encroachment operation in Rawalpindi to restore public spaces and improve traffic movement.
The drive was carried out along Saidpur Road, from Siddiqui Chowk to Pindora, with joint support from Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi and the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA).
During the operation, teams demolished illegal sheds, removed unauthorized signboards, and cleared encroachments that were causing congestion and obstructing pedestrian movement.
Officials also briefed shopkeepers on the importance of protecting public land and complying with approved building plans. Authorities stressed that strict legal action will be taken against repeat violators.
The operation aims not only to clear encroachments but also to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and the overall urban environment.
RDA officials said such actions form part of a broader plan to modernize infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance the city’s appearance. Citizens were encouraged to report illegal constructions through RDA’s hotline to support timely enforcement action.
The operation took place under the supervision of Additional DG RDA Muhammad Anwar Baran, along with enforcement officials including Ghazanfar Ali Awan, Aamir Mahmood Malik, and Asim Nawaz Khokhar.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining urban discipline and urged residents to avoid constructing unauthorized structures in the city.
