Sialkot Stallionz in Trouble Over Alleged Ownership Dispute Ahead of PSL 11

An ownership controversy has surfaced around the newly formed Sialkot Stallionz franchise ahead of its debut in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).

A man identifying himself as the franchise’s majority owner, Mohammad Shahid, has issued a public warning alleging that minority partner Hamza Majeed sold shares without proper authorization.

Shahid claims to hold a 76% stake in the team and has reportedly approached the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL management, seeking intervention. He has also hinted at pursuing legal options to safeguard his claimed ownership rights.

The dispute has fueled speculation on social media regarding the franchise’s original acquisition. There are rumors that the initial purchase by OZ Developers was intended as a short-term strategy to capitalize on the team’s market hype by selling off shares to foreign investors.

Earlier this month, Australia-based Alpha Sports Group acquired a 75% controlling stake in the franchise, significantly altering its ownership structure. Following the deal, OZ Developers, led by Hamza Majeed and Kamil Khan, were left with a 25% minority holding.

There are also reports suggesting that former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram, who will serve as the team’s president, may own around 10% of the franchise as part of his leadership arrangement, though no official confirmation has been issued.

The Sialkot franchise was added as the eighth team of the PSL and is set to make its first appearance in PSL 11, starting March 26, 2026. The team was initially bought by OZ Developers for a record Rs. 1.85 billion.

Neither the PCB nor PSL management has issued a formal statement on the ownership dispute so far, but the situation is being closely watched as the league prepares for its upcoming season.
