The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the federal Cabinet has approved the immediate release of Rs. 19 billion for the Prime Minister’s Ramzan Relief Package (PMRRP) 2026.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, along with federal secretaries and senior officials from relevant ministries, divisions, and regulatory authorities.
The ECC reviewed a summary presented by the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety seeking approval for Rs. 25 billion in funding for the Prime Minister’s Ramzan Relief Package (PMRRP) 2026.
The Finance Division informed the committee that Rs. 19 billion had already been allocated in the current financial year’s budget for the Ramzan package, while the remaining requirement would be released as needed.
Accordingly, the ECC approved the immediate release of Rs. 19 billion to ensure timely commencement of disbursements. It was further agreed that any additional funding requirements would be reviewed in line with evolving needs and available fiscal space.
The committee also examined the proposed operational expenditure and emphasized the need for a detailed cost breakdown, including payments to partner financial institutions and expenses related to outreach and communication.
In this regard, the ECC granted in-principle approval for operational expenses amounting to Rs. 1 billion, subject to the submission of comprehensive details to the Finance Division to ensure compliance with financial rules and alignment with actual requirements.
Taking note of the urgency associated with initiating payments, the ECC regularized steps already undertaken to facilitate early disbursement through re-appropriated funds. It was agreed that all expenditures would be managed in accordance with Pakistan’s fiscal commitments, and that any unutilized funds would be surrendered following prescribed procedures.
The ECC reaffirmed the government’s resolve to provide timely and dignified assistance to deserving segments of society during the holy month of Ramzan, while maintaining fiscal discipline, transparency, and strong oversight in the implementation of relief measures.
The Prime Minister’s Ramzan Relief Package 2026 is aimed at delivering targeted financial support to vulnerable households during Ramzan. Beneficiary selection will be carried out using data from the National Socio-Economic Registry to ensure transparency, objectivity, and accountability. The package предусматриes one-time cash assistance for identified low-income families, alongside enhancements to existing social protection programs, with funds to be transferred directly through formal banking and digital channels to ensure secure and efficient delivery.
