Punjab Airline’s First Flight Date Announced

The Punjab government has officially announced the launch timeline for Punjab Airline, the province’s own airline, with its first flight scheduled to begin operations in April.

According to government sources, the airline will acquire seven aircraft in the initial phase. Punjab Airline will operate as a provincial-owned carrier, marking a major step toward strengthening Punjab’s aviation sector.

Sources said that for the first two years, the airline will operate domestic flights only. After completing this phase, Punjab Airline is expected to expand its operations to international destinations.

It was further disclosed that the Chief Minister of Punjab’s existing helicopter will be included in Punjab Airline’s fleet. For official travel, the chief minister will use aircraft operated by the airline, and no separate aircraft will be purchased for official use.

The move aims to avoid placing any additional burden on the national exchequer. Officials said that both existing and newly purchased aircraft will be used on a fully commercial basis to ensure profitability.

Under the policy, Punjab Airline’s aircraft will be used for both passenger services and official travel. Whenever the chief minister travels using the airline, the standard fare will be paid, maintaining transparency and commercial viability.
