The Lahore City Traffic Police has launched a strict crackdown across the city against serious traffic violations, including one-way driving, riding motorcycles without helmets, and vehicles without number plates or with non-standard plates.
According to Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Athar Waheed, special checks and blockades were set up at various points in the city over the past 12 hours.
During the operation, authorities impounded 363 vehicles at relevant police stations for major rule violations.
Official data showed that 1,946 motorcyclists were fined for riding without helmets.
Authorities issued challan tickets to 665 vehicles for one-way violations and fined 299 vehicles for breaching lane discipline rules.
Additionally, 298 vehicles were ticketed for having non-standard or missing number plates.
Dr. Athar Waheed urged citizens to strictly follow traffic laws to protect their lives and those of others.
He advised motorcyclists to wear helmets and vehicle owners to display approved number plates. He warned that authorities will continue to take indiscriminate action against violators.

The policies and procedures relating to traffic management that have been taken by the local government are EXCELLENT. Unfortunately our society thinks ‘its our country, we can do what we want’ … NO YOU CANT!… Please ensure stricker crackdowns and increase the challan for ONE-WAY violations. Our society needs to respect and understand the law!… ONLY then can it become a ‘civilised’ society. (But unfortunately most are uneducated and the govt will have to assist on that regard)
