WASA Registers FIR Over Delays in Dream Water Project

The Rawalpindi Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has taken strict notice of repeated delays in Lot-4 of the Dream Water Supply Project, funded through a loan from the Asian Development Bank, and ordered the registration of an FIR against the contractor’s field safety officer, manager, and other staff.

The Rs7.19 billion Lot-4 project involves laying a new pipeline from Rawal Dam to Khayaban-e-Sir Syed via Sixth Road.

Delays have disrupted traffic on Sixth Road, while ongoing excavation has caused inconvenience to residents and increased accident risks.

WASA Managing Director Muhammad Saleem Ashraf visited the site on Monday night and directed immediate action.

The broader project aims to supply an additional five million gallons per day from Rawal Dam and Khanpur Dam to Khayaban-e-Sir Syed.

Lot-1 of the scheme was awarded at Rs6.36 billion, while Lot-4 stands at Rs7.19 billion.

Following the delays, authorities registered an FIR against the contractor’s staff and deployed departmental manpower to accelerate work.

Officials have instructed that the remaining work be completed at the earliest.

Earlier, a Rs20.40 billion contract for Lots 2 and 3,  aimed at supplying 12 million gallons per day from Chahan Dam to Adiala Road and six adjoining union councils, was cancelled due to irregularities.
