Punjab Safe Cities Tightens Security for Ramadan

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has completed special security arrangements across the province to ensure safety during Ramadan.

Officials said dedicated virtual patrolling teams have been deployed at Punjab’s Smart Safe City centers, where they are monitoring activities round the clock.

Under the Safe City system, more than 21 Ramadan and facilitation bazaars have been connected to the central network through 66 surveillance cameras to ensure the security of shoppers and traders.

Additionally, 112 cameras installed at over 32 public parks have also been integrated into the Safe City network.

Authorities further confirmed that 143 cameras at more than 163 mosques and imambargahs are now linked to the system.

Special monitoring is underway during Taraweeh prayers and other religious gatherings, with continuous surveillance of mosques and key public places.

Officials said the authority is also using an AI-based monitoring system to track beggars and suspicious activity at traffic signals. The advanced system generates instant alerts, enabling relevant teams to respond immediately.

The Safe City authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activity through the designated helpline to help maintain a peaceful environment during the holy month.
