KP Govt Removes Bank Account Requirement for Ramadan Package

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has officially withdrawn the mandatory bank account condition for recipients of its Ramadan Package 2026 following strong public criticism and pressure from social activists, beneficiaries, and local representatives. A formal notification has been issued by the provincial authorities to this effect.

KP Ramadan Package

The KP Ramadan Package 2026 had announced financial assistance of Rs12,500 for deserving families. However, the initial requirement that beneficiaries must have a bank account sparked widespread criticism.

  • Citizens and public representatives described the bank account condition as insensitive and unrealistic, especially for poor and rural segments of society.
  • Many beneficiaries argued that accessing banking facilities in remote and underdeveloped areas was difficult, making it harder for needy families to obtain government assistance.
  • Social workers and local leaders called the requirement impractical, highlighting that a majority of deserving families live in villages where banking services are either limited or non-existent.

Revised Procedure

Following the backlash, the KP government revised the registration process:

  • Beneficiaries will now be registered using their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), mobile phone number, and other essential details.
  • This change ensures that thousands of deserving families in rural and backward areas can now access the Ramadan Package, who were previously at risk of exclusion.
  • Officials emphasized that the revised procedure would enhance transparency, widen outreach, and ensure assistance reaches the maximum number of eligible individuals.

Official Statement

Provincial authorities expressed hope that the new mechanism would simplify the registration process, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and ensure the timely delivery of financial support to needy families across the province.
