Xiaomi has introduced its new compact battery pack called the Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W in more markets. The device measures just 6mm thick and weighs 98 grams.
The power bank measures 98.5 × 71.5 × 6mm. Its width is slightly narrower than the Xiaomi 17 at 71.8mm and matches the width of the iPhone 17. It also supports devices such as the Galaxy S25, which measures 70.5mm in width, and the Pixel 10 at 72.0mm. A magnetic case is required for devices without built-in magnets.
The unit features an aluminum alloy shell and is available in three color options. The side that attaches to the phone is constructed from fiberglass.
The battery has a 5,000 mAh capacity and supports wireless charging up to 15W through the Qi2 standard. A Xiaomi 17 can charge wirelessly at the full 15W speed, although a magnetic case is needed since the phone does not include built-in magnets. Wireless charging works without magnets, but magnetic attachment improves convenience. An iPhone can draw up to 7.5W wirelessly from the device.
A USB-C port located at the bottom is primarily used to recharge the power bank itself. However, it can also charge a connected phone at speeds of up to 22.5W via a wired connection.
The power bank can charge two devices at the same time, one wirelessly and one through the USB-C port. Users must press the power button to activate this dual charging mode.
The internal battery uses a silicon-carbon cell with 16% silicon content. It is rated at 18.58Wh, with a typical capacity of 18.95Wh. A 4,369mm² graphite sheet is included for heat management.
Xiaomi has integrated multiple safety protections to guard against over-voltage, under-voltage, overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, overheating, and electrostatic shock.
The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W, model number MDY-20-EB, is available in select markets. It is priced at approximately $50.
