UAE Shift to Hybrid and Remote Work Amid Regional Uncertainty

Many companies in the UAE have implemented hybrid and remote work policies to keep employees safe and close to their families amid rising regional tensions.

HR and recruitment experts say businesses are now better prepared to adapt quickly while maintaining operational continuity.

Sanjeev Giri, Head of Operations at Adecco UAE, noted that organizations have embedded remote work frameworks into their operations, allowing employees to work from home when feasible.

Companies are also adjusting working hours, improving internal communications, and streamlining reporting structures to maintain productivity and morale.

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation recently advised private sector employers to reduce employee presence in exposed areas and implement remote work wherever possible, except for essential jobs.

Employees stranded abroad due to flight suspensions and airspace closures are being accommodated with flexible arrangements such as remote work, paid leave, or temporary unpaid leave, without penalties.

Nicki Wilson, Executive Director at Genie Recruitment, highlighted that employers are prioritizing empathy, transparency, and proactive communication to ensure workforce engagement and retention during uncertain times.

This approach underscores the UAE’s evolving corporate culture, where flexibility, safety, and employee well-being are increasingly integrated into business operations.
