Apple has started its latest product launch cycle with the introduction of the iPhone 17e. Positioned as the company’s more affordable option, the new model closely follows last year’s 16e, while only adding one main upgrade.
Design and Display
The iPhone 17e features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2532 × 1170 and a 60Hz refresh rate. The screen retains the notch design that houses the Face ID system and the front-facing camera.
Apple has updated the display protection to Ceramic Shield 2 glass. The device is available in Black, White, and a new Soft Pink finish.
The device carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and now supports MagSafe, allowing compatibility with a wide range of magnetic accessories. This is the only real upgrade onboard.
Internals and Software
The iPhone 17e is powered by Apple’s new A19 chip, configured with a 4-core GPU. It also introduces the latest C1X modem, which Apple says improves connectivity for 5G connections.
The phone runs iOS 26 and includes Apple Intelligence.
Cameras
On the rear, the iPhone 17e is equipped with a single 48MP camera with optical image stabilization. It supports 4K video recording at 60 frames per second with Dolby Vision. Apple states that portrait photography performance has improved due to a new image processing pipeline.
For selfies and video calls, the device includes a 12MP front-facing camera.
Battery and Pricing
The iPhone 17e supports 15W wireless charging through MagSafe, along with faster wired charging.
Pricing starts at $599 for the 256GB model, while the 512GB version is priced at $799.
