Karachi Establishes 24/7 Emergency Control Center

Karachi has set up a 24-hour emergency control center following instructions from Mayor Murtaza Wahab due to the current security situation in the city.

Officials said the emergency cell, set up at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) head office, will operate around the clock to monitor any emergency situation.

The chief fire officer will lead the cell and will be assisted by the deputy director of the City Wardens and representatives from other institutions.

The purpose of forming the emergency cell is to ensure an effective response and to monitor any developing situation in a timely manner. All KMC department heads have been directed to assist during emergencies.

An emergency has also been declared at all hospitals under KMC management. Authorities have released the phone and mobile numbers of relevant officers to ensure they can be contacted quickly in case of an emergency.

According to the official notification, all KMC department heads must ensure an immediate response in emergency situations. Essential services departments have been placed on high alert and instructed to remain fully equipped.

Departments have been directed to ensure the availability of functional equipment and machinery, operational ambulances with adequate staff, and medical and paramedical personnel assigned to emergency duty. Leave for staff in all essential services departments has been canceled until further notice.
