Lenovo’s First Rugged Tablet Can Fully Function as a Docked Computer Without Battery

Lenovo has announced two new tablets, each designed for different environments. The ThinkTab X11 targets field and rugged use, while the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is positioned for office and classroom settings. The former comes with a BatteryLess Mode, letting you power the tablet with a dock instead of the battery.

Lenovo ThinkTab X11

The ThinkTab X11 is Lenovo’s first rugged Android tablet. It carries IP68 certification and has passed MIL-STD-810H testing.

The tablet supports Batteryless Mode, allowing it to operate continuously on a dock or function as a kiosk without relying on its battery. When used independently, it includes a 10,200 mAh battery.

Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and dual USB-C ports. It also features a front-mounted NFC receiver for simplified payments.

The device has a 10.95-inch display with a resolution of 2,560 × 1,600 pixels, a 90Hz refresh rate, and brightness up to 600 nits. A stylus is included and can be stored in a sheath along the top edge.

Powering the ThinkTab X11 is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The same processor is used in Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro.

The ThinkTab X11 will launch in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in April at a starting price of €500.

Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2

The Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is designed for productivity in office and classroom settings. It features a 13-inch LCD with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3,540 × 2,190 pixels.

The display supports a 144Hz refresh rate and covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color space. It delivers 600 nits of brightness under normal use and can reach 800 nits in high brightness mode.

Audio is handled by four JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The tablet supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

The Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A microSD slot allows for storage expansion.

It includes a 10,200mAh battery with 45W charging support. The device ships with Android 16, and Lenovo has committed to two operating system updates and four years of security patches.

The previous Idea Tab Pro used the Dimensity 8300 chipset and featured a 12.7-inch 144Hz LCD. It launched with Android 14 and is also scheduled to receive only two OS updates, concluding with Android 16.

The Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 will be available later this month at a price of €550. It supports the Lenovo 2-in-1 Keyboard Pack, sold separately. A Folio Case and Pen stylus are included at no additional cost.
