Lahore to Introduce AI-Enabled Vehicles for Driving Tests

In a major step to enhance transparency and efficiency, Lahore traffic authorities have finalized plans to modernize the driving license testing process by introducing artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled vehicles aimed at curbing favoritism and corruption.

According to officials, the initiative is designed to improve the quality and credibility of driving tests through advanced technology.

The procurement of 44 AI-equipped vehicles is in its final stages, with the fleet expected to arrive at the traffic headquarters next week. The order was initially smaller but expanded to 44 vehicles to meet growing demand at driving test centres.

Each vehicle costs approximately Rs4.8 million, with an additional Rs400,000–500,000 allocated for installing specialized testing equipment.

Final testing of the vehicles has already been completed at the traffic headquarters.

The AI-enabled vehicles will feature advanced sensors, cameras, and biometric systems, ensuring a fully automated, fair, and transparent testing process for all applicants.
