Punjab Approves Rehmat Card Scheme for Widows and Orphans

The Punjab government has decided to introduce a new welfare program called the “Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card” to support widowed women and orphaned children.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formally approved the initiative, directing the concerned authorities to begin preparations.

According to officials, a transparent digital system has been developed to ensure government support reaches widows and orphaned children. The system aims to deliver financial assistance directly and transparently to eligible beneficiaries.

Under the program, eligible families will receive Rs. 100,000. Through the Rehmat Card, widowed women will receive Rs. 100,000, while orphaned children will receive Rs. 25,000 each.

Sources said the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card project will be officially launched shortly after Eid.

In this regard, Special Assistant for Ushr and Zakat Rashid Nasrullah provided the Chief Minister with a detailed briefing on the program.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that widowed women in Punjab will no longer remain helpless, adding that the government is taking practical steps to improve their welfare and well-being.

She also stated that every citizen has an equal right to the resources of Punjab, emphasizing the government’s commitment to social welfare initiatives.
