Airlines Increase Ticket Prices After Jet Fuel Price Hike

Airlines in Pakistan have increased ticket fares after a sharp rise in the price of jet fuel in the country.

According to airline sources, fares for domestic flights from Karachi to Lahore, Islamabad and other destinations have been raised. Ticket prices on domestic routes have increased by Rs. 2,800 to Rs. 5,000 per ticket.

Sources said fares on international routes have also been increased, with ticket prices going up by Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 28,000 depending on the destination. Flights from Pakistan to countries in the Middle East and Central Asia have seen fare increases of up to Rs. 15,000 per ticket.

Meanwhile, airline sources said fares for flights from Pakistan to Toronto and Manchester have increased by as much as Rs. 28,000 per ticket. The one-way economy class fare on these routes has now exceeded Rs. 250,000.

The fare increases follow a significant rise in jet fuel prices in Pakistan. Sources said the price of jet fuel has increased by Rs. 154 per litre, raising the price to Rs. 342 per litre.
