The federal government has appointed Fareed Ahmad Tarrar as the new chairman of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), according to official sources.
The appointment was approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who gave the final nod for Tarrar to lead the country’s top competition watchdog.
The CCP is responsible for promoting fair competition in Pakistan’s markets, preventing monopolistic practices, and protecting consumers from anti-competitive behavior.
The post was unfilled since Dr. Kabir Ahmed Siddu left to join the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
Further details regarding the tenure and effective date of the appointment are expected to be announced through an official notification.
