Private school associations in Sindh have expressed concern over the provincial government’s decision to close schools and colleges for two weeks due to the ongoing fuel crisis.
The Private Schools’ Management Association (PSMA) urged the government to reconsider the decision, warning that prolonged closures could disrupt the 2026–27 academic session.
PSMA Chairman Danish Uz Zaman said many students are preparing for annual examinations, and complete holidays would negatively affect their studies.
He also noted that millions of children in Sindh are already out of school, and further disruptions could worsen the education crisis.
Similarly, the All Private Schools’ Management Association (APSMA) said online classes were not effective during the COVID-19 pandemic, and many schools lack the infrastructure for digital learning.
School associations suggested allowing institutions to operate three or four days a week instead of complete closure to save energy while ensuring continuity in education.
However, the All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association (ASPSCA) supported the government’s move, calling the energy crisis a serious issue.
