Chinese smartphone brands have been rapidly increasing battery capacities using silicon-carbon battery technology, while many global manufacturers still keep their devices around the 5,000mAh mark. Honor has been among the companies pushing this trend forward and even received recognition for its battery innovations at MWC earlier this month.
A new rumor from China now suggests that the upcoming Honor X80 GT could feature a 13,080mAh battery.
Possible Battery Upgrade
According to the leak, the standard Honor X80 model may come with a 10,000mAh battery. That would already represent a significant increase over the Honor X70, which launched with an 8,300mAh battery.
If the rumor proves accurate, the X80 GT would offer a much larger battery capacity than the regular model.
Honor’s Focus on Large Batteries
Honor has already released several devices with unusually large batteries in the mid-range segment.
The recently launched Honor Win features a 10,000mAh battery, while the Honor Power 2 includes a 10,080mAh battery.
With the rumored X80 GT battery size, the company could once again push battery capacities beyond current limits in this category.
Other Specifications Still Unknown
Details about the rest of the Honor X80 GT specifications have not yet been revealed.
For reference, the Honor X70 launched last July with a 6.79-inch AMOLED display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate. The device was powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor and offered 8GB or 12GB of RAM along with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage.
The phone also included a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP front camera.
The upcoming X80 GT is expected to improve on those specifications, though the exact upgrades remain unclear.
