Pakistan-Bound Oil Tanker Narrowly Clears Hormuz Strait After Iran Strikes

An oil tanker carrying crude appears to have successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz and is now heading toward Pakistan, according to ship-tracking data shared by Bloomberg.

There has been very limited movement of vessels from the Persian Gulf since the US and Israel declared war on Iran.

The tanker, operated by the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), completed the hazardous transit on Sunday, data compiled from shipping trackers shows.

By Monday morning, the Pakistan-flagged Aframax tanker was spotted near the waters off Sohar in Oman after clearing the narrow and strategically critical maritime route.

Only a small number of ships have managed to clear the Gulf since the escalation of hostilities, as heightened security risks and fears of disruption have made the passage through the Strait of Hormuz increasingly dangerous for commercial vessels. Western ships bound for Israel are reportedly subjected to heavy bombardment by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and not allowed save passage.
