PIA Flight Lands Safely Amid Missile Attack Near UAE Airport

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight narrowly avoided danger when a missile attack occurred near the naval headquarters adjacent to Fujairah Airport during landing.

Flight PK-175, carrying 123 passengers and 8 crew members, landed safely at 6:00 a.m. Smoke from the attack briefly enveloped the airport, causing panic among passengers and crew. Another PIA flight, PK-173, had arrived earlier from Islamabad.

A PIA spokesperson confirmed that both flights safely returned to Lahore and Islamabad without any injuries, despite minor delays in return operations.

Flight Operations Amid Regional Tensions

Amid escalating security concerns in the Middle East, PIA has been allowed to operate one daily flight each to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Flights to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, were temporarily suspended after a missile attack on Bahrain, while services to Jeddah, Riyadh, and Medina continue via rerouted paths over the Arabian Sea and Yemen.

PIA flights bound for Europe and Canada are also experiencing disruptions due to the closure of Iranian airspace, requiring aircraft to be rerouted through Afghanistan’s Wakhan corridor.

Global Aviation Impact

The recent Iran-Israel-US conflict has caused widespread disruption in global air travel. Major transit airports in the region, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, remain partially closed, stranding tens of thousands of passengers worldwide.

Officials continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure passenger safety while maintaining essential flight operations.
