Punjab Expands Electric Bus Service to Another District

The Punjab government has launched an electric bus service in Toba Tek Singh, with 15 buses beginning operations on two routes to provide affordable transport in the district.

Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan inaugurated the service at a depot on Gojra Bypass. The buses will operate on Toba Tek Singh–Gojra and Toba Tek Singh–Kamalia routes.

The government has set the fare at Rs. 20 per stop. The minister said the service aims to provide safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly travel facilities to residents.

He added that the government plans to expand the service and introduce additional routes, including Toba Tek Singh–Pir Mahal. Officials said the initiative is part of efforts to improve public transport and introduce modern, low-cost commuting options in the area.

Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar, Deputy Commissioner Toba Tek Singh Umar Abbas Mela and other officials attended the inauguration ceremony.
