Telcos to Start Listing Service Areas Across Pakistan As 5G Launch Officially Begins

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has granted NGMS/5G licenses to cellular mobile operators, allowing them to begin the commercial deployment of 5G services across Pakistan.

According to a statement issued by the PTA, the licensed operators include Jazz, Ufone, and Zong, which have been formally authorized to launch next-generation mobile services in the country.

To facilitate public awareness and improve service transparency, all operators have been directed to publish updated lists on their official websites, showing the specific locations where 5G services are available. The lists will also include details of 5G-enabled smartphone models that are compatible with local networks and approved for use in Pakistan.

The authority stated that all cellular mobile operators will introduce 5G services in a phased manner to ensure network stability and maintain a high-quality user experience during the initial rollout. This gradual deployment will allow operators to expand coverage step by step while monitoring network performance and consumer response.

The statement added that only supported smartphone models from leading manufacturers will be able to access 5G services in covered areas at this stage, and service availability may vary depending on location, network readiness, and device compatibility.

Consumers have been advised to enable 5G settings on their devices and install the latest operating system updates to ensure optimal performance. The PTA reaffirmed its commitment to a smooth and transparent nationwide transition to next-generation mobile services.
