Donald Trump Shares PM Shehbaz’s Tweet on Hosting US-Iran Talks in Islamabad

US President Donald Trump has shared a post by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his Truth Social account confirming Islamabad’s offer to host potential peace talks between the United States and Iran.

PM Shehbaz on X expressed Pakistan’s readiness to facilitate “meaningful and conclusive talks” aimed at achieving a comprehensive peace settlement between the two sides, contingent on approval from both Washington and Tehran.

Trump reposted the message without adding any comment, though he has previously indicated support for diplomatic efforts and hinted at progress in indirect communications regarding the Iran conflict.

The development comes amid ongoing regional tensions, with Pakistan, alongside other countries, being viewed as a potential mediator in efforts to de-escalate the situation between the U.S. and Iran. Islamabad has emerged as one of the suggested venues for possible negotiations, although no formal talks have been confirmed yet.

Iran has not officially confirmed participation in any such talks, and the proposed initiative remains at the stage of diplomatic backchannel discussions.
