K-Electric Appoints PSO Chief Syed Taha as New CEO

K-Electric has appointed Syed Taha as its new chief executive officer, replacing interim CEO Adeeb Ahmad, effective April 15, 2026, the utility said in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday.

Taha currently serves as managing director and chief executive officer of Pakistan State Oil, a role he has held since February 2020. His appointment marks the latest leadership change at the Karachi-based power distributor following the resignation of former CEO Moonis Alvi earlier this year.

Before joining Pakistan State Oil, Taha worked as executive director at Oasis Energy, where he led the program management office of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company in Nigeria. He has also previously served as chief distribution officer at K-Electric and held senior roles at Shell Pakistan and Caltex Pakistan, a unit of Chevron.

Taha holds an engineering degree and an MBA in finance from the Institute of Business Administration Karachi.

The leadership change follows a period of transition at the utility after Alvi stepped down in February, prompting the appointment of Ahmad as interim chief executive. Earlier, the company also named Shaheryar Chishty as chairman during the absence of Mark Skelton.
