Smart Lockdown Under Consideration in Sindh: Minister

Sindh Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah said on Tuesday that the provincial government is considering imposing a smart lockdown in view of the evolving situation.

Speaking to media, he said authorities are holding daily meetings to review developments and assess necessary measures. He said the fuel quota for government vehicles has been reduced by 60 percent as part of conservation efforts.

Shah said the current situation is not normal and urged the public to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary movement. He warned that prolonged conflict could have wider global implications, including for Pakistan.

He said strict steps have become necessary to conserve fuel and pointed to energy challenges in the region.

Separately, the minister visited a water filtration plant in Rohri and said the government is working to ensure the supply of clean drinking water. He added that the chief minister has approved construction of a new bridge over the Indus River and work on the project will begin soon.
