Federal Board Postpones Matric Exams Amid Middle East Conflict

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has officially postponed SSC (matric) annual examinations in select overseas centers, citing security concerns and regional uncertainty.

According to a fresh notification, the exams have been suspended only in Iran, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. Exams at all other international FBISE centers will continue as per the previously announced schedule.

The board has also withheld the issuance of roll number slips for students in the affected countries until further notice.

In a key update, FBISE has introduced a facilitation mechanism for affected candidates. Students from postponed centers can opt to appear for their exams in Pakistan or in nearby countries where examinations are proceeding normally.

Candidates and institutions can apply for this arrangement via official email addresses or through designated WhatsApp helplines provided by the board.

The notification further states that if any overseas examination center in the affected countries manages to restore required logistical arrangements during the ongoing exam period, FBISE may allow students there to rejoin the exams as per the original schedule.

Additionally, institutions facing logistical issues have been advised to make alternative arrangements, including in-house printing of answer sheets where necessary.

FBISE confirmed that the decision will be reviewed within 15 days, taking into account the evolving security situation. If conditions improve, the postponed exams will be rescheduled accordingly, and remaining papers may proceed under the existing timetable.

The board has urged students and institutions to stay in contact and follow official updates as the situation develops.
