Sindh to Launch Crackdown on Fancy Number Plates Next Week

The Sindh government has authorized Karachi Police to launch a city-wide crackdown against vehicles using unauthorized or fancy number plates, set to begin from March 30, 2026.

According to an official statement issued by the police spokesperson, the campaign is being launched on the directives of Additional IG Javed Alam Odho. Citizens have been urged to ensure that their vehicles are fitted with government-approved number plates.

Authorities emphasized that the use of private, decorative, or non-standard number plates is strictly prohibited under the law. Such plates not only create identification issues but also pose serious security risks.

Karachi Police has advised all vehicle owners to immediately replace any non-compliant plates with official ones to avoid fines or penalties once the operation begins.

Officials reiterated that ensuring compliance will help improve overall security and assist authorities in maintaining law and order in Karachi.
