Pedro Sánchez, the prime minister of Spain, has accused Benjamin Netanyahu of seeking to inflict the same level of destruction in Lebanon as Israel has caused in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking in the Spanish parliament, Sánchez said Israel’s leadership appeared intent on extending the devastation seen in Gaza to other parts of the Middle East.
Criticism of US–Israeli Military Actions
The Spanish leader also criticised the military campaign by the United States and Israel against Iran, describing the conflict as “an absolute disaster.”
Sánchez argued that the war had been unleashed to serve the interests of powerful actors rather than to promote stability.
Warning of Regional Destabilisation
According to Sánchez, the escalating conflict risks undermining international law and destabilising the broader Middle East.
He warned that the violence could reignite tensions in countries such as Iraq and Lebanon while leaving Gaza buried “under the rubble of oblivion and indifference.”
The remarks reflect growing criticism within Europe over the widening regional conflict and its humanitarian and geopolitical consequences.
