Deputy PM Ishaq Dar Has an Accident While Welcoming Egyptian Foreign Minister

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had a minor slip while welcoming Badr Abdelatty at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan in Islamabad on Sunday.

The incident occurred as Dar stepped forward to greet the visiting dignitary. He briefly lost his footing and stumbled, prompting nearby staff and security personnel to quickly step in and assist him. He was not injured and resumed proceedings shortly after.

Despite the momentary disruption, the high-level diplomatic engagement continued without delay, with both sides proceeding with scheduled discussions.

The meeting was part of a broader multilateral engagement hosted by Pakistan, bringing together key regional players, including representatives from Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan is currently playing a facilitative role in ongoing backchannel diplomacy aimed at easing tensions involving United States and Iran. The discussions are considered sensitive, with senior officials reportedly engaged in indirect dialogue.

While there has been speculation regarding the possible involvement of high-ranking US officials, including JD Vance, no formal confirmation has been issued.

The brief stumble, captured on video, circulated online but did little to distract from the broader diplomatic agenda, as Pakistan continues to position itself as a key intermediary in regional dialogue.
