Punjab Launches Free Cardiac Surgery Program

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a cardiac surgery program to provide free and timely treatment to patients with heart diseases.

The Chief Minister Cardiac Surgery Program has started in nine public and 15 private cardiac institutions across Punjab, offering free treatment to eligible patients.

Authorities have already performed the first open-heart surgery under the program at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Lahore.

The government has allocated more than Rs. 3 billion annually for the initiative and aims to clear waiting lists for open-heart surgeries within six months.

Officials have set up a dedicated helpline at 0800-09009, while patients can also call 042-99066000 from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 am and 11:00 pm. They have also provided guidance through WhatsApp at 0333-6756390.

Maryam Nawaz said the government aims to expand access to advanced healthcare and ensure free and timely treatment for cardiac patients across the province.
