The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday restored the interim bail of Dr. Fazeela Abbasi in her alleged involvement in the Rs. 25 billion money laundering case.
The court directed that she submit surety bonds worth Rs. 100,000 and also restrained authorities from arresting her for now. The case was heard by Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, who also instructed Dr. Fazeela Abbasi to approach the trial court for further proceedings.
This development comes just days after a lower court had canceled her pre-arrest bail over repeated non-appearance. Her continuous absence had intensified the legal pressure around the high-profile investigation.
According to the Federal Investigation Agency, the case centers on alleged suspicious financial transactions involving approximately Rs. 25 billion routed through 22 bank accounts linked to Dr. Abbasi.
The transactions were allegedly moved onward to destinations including Dubai and the United States, while the declared annual income on record was reported to be between Rs. 400,000 and Rs. 600,000.
The case has drawn significant public attention not only because of the scale of the alleged transactions but also because the individual is the sister of famed celebrity Hamza Ali Abbas.
In recent days, the matter gained wider traction after Hamza Ali Abbasi publicly clarified that he has no involvement in the case.
