RDA Launches Crackdown on Illegal Housing Schemes

On the directions of Rawalpindi Commissioner and Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority Engr. Aamer Khattak, the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate has launched enforcement action against illegal housing schemes and issued a public advisory to raise awareness among citizens.

The commissioner directed authorities to take strict legal action against owners, sponsors, and developers involved in unauthorized housing schemes operating within RDA-controlled areas. These include the jurisdictions of Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR), as well as tehsil and district councils of Rawalpindi, Taxila, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, and Kahuta.

RDA identified multiple violations of the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Schemes Rules, 2021. These include launching schemes without approval, unauthorized development and sale of plots, failure to submit required documentation, and major deviations from approved layout plans.

In line with the directives, RDA has intensified enforcement measures, including issuing notices, registering FIRs, sealing offices and project sites, demolishing illegal structures, imposing bans on property transactions, and referring cases to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing and other relevant authorities.
