The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has allowed universities and degree-awarding institutions (DAIs) across the country to resume physical classes from April 1, 2026.
In a notification issued on March 31, the commission directed all public and private universities and DAIs to restore on-campus academic activities. The decision follows earlier directives issued on March 10 regarding the implementation of austerity and fuel conservation measures.
The HEC instructed vice chancellors, rectors, and heads of institutions to ensure compliance with the directive and resume regular academic operations accordingly.
The move signals a shift back to normal academic routines after temporary measures introduced in response to the prevailing situation.
The commission has circulated the notification to relevant federal and provincial authorities, including education departments across Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
