The National Highway Authority has withdrawn its notification regarding the revision of toll rates on highways and motorways, with immediate effect.
In a notification issued on April 3, the authority said its earlier directive dated April 1 on toll rate revision has been revoked. The move comes following directions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, under which the proposed 25 percent quarterly increase in toll tax has been withdrawn.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan said the decision was taken in view of the current economic situation to provide relief to the public.
He said no increase in toll rates will be implemented during the fiscal year 2025–26, adding that the government aims to reduce the financial burden on commuters and transporters. The minister said further steps will be taken to address public concerns in line with the prime minister’s directions.
