Heavy rainfall across Karachi has temporarily disrupted electricity and gas services, with around 500 feeders affected at the peak and several areas experiencing outages.
According to reports, the power distribution system of K-Electric remained stable, with around 500 feeders affected at the peak during the rain.
The number of affected feeders reduced quickly as the rain stopped, and by 6:30 PM, the affected feeders stood at around 120 and continued to decrease.
Out of over 2,100 feeders, electricity supply remained uninterrupted from around 2,000 feeders.
Authorities said outages were also caused by safety measures, including temporary suspension of supply in low-lying areas and locations with illegal connections.
The affected localities include Sultanabad, Landhi, Korangi, Saudabad, and Shah Faisal. Power outages have also been reported in Kathore, Gadap, Orangi Town, Manghopir, and the SITE industrial area.
Residents in New Karachi, Surjani, Garden, and Korangi are also facing electricity disruptions, while supply has been affected in Scheme 33, FB Area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Malir.
Other neighborhoods, including Sher Shah, Baldia, Ittehad Town, and Moach Goth, have also experienced outages during the ongoing rainfall.
The gas distribution system operated by Sui Southern Gas Company has also come under strain, with supply disruptions reported since the afternoon.
Low gas pressure and outages have affected households, hotels, and industrial areas across the city. Sources said the system is facing pressure due to reduced gas availability.
