Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed the National Assembly in a written reply that 439 buildings in Islamabad are illegal, as they were constructed without approved building plans or any official permission.
According to the reply, these structures are mostly located in Zone 1 and Zone 2 and do not comply with the rules and regulations of the Capital Development Authority.
The minister said notices and show cause notices have been issued to all 439 buildings for violating building laws, while the CDA has so far collected Rs. 931,273,360 in fines from these illegal constructions.
He further stated that 152 buildings have already been sealed over violations of the relevant rules.
During the same question hour, Mohsin Naqvi also informed the House that the slaughterhouse operating in Sihala does not meet modern hygiene and environmental standards. The facility, built in 1960 on 14.75 acres, remains operational under the Meat Board but is now considered outdated.
The minister added that, at the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the CDA has started work on a new modern slaughterhouse in Islamabad, equipped with updated facilities to address public health and environmental concerns.
