The Islamabad administration alongside the provincial gernments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir have imposed sweeping early closing timings for markets, restaurants, and wedding events as part of newly enforced austerity measures.
According to an official notification, all shops, markets, and shopping malls in Islamabad will now close at 8:00 PM throughout the week, including weekends.
The order will take effect from April 7 (today), 2026, and will remain applicable until further instructions.
Essential Services Exempted
Certain essential businesses have been exempted from the early closure directive. These include:
- Pharmacies, medical stores, laboratories, and hospitals
- Petrol pumps and CNG stations
- Tandoors, bakeries, and milk or dairy shops
Authorities said the exemptions aim to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential goods and emergency services.
Restaurants Allowed Delivery After 10 PM
Hotels, restaurants, and food outlets will be required to shut dine-in operations by 10:00 PM. However, takeaway and home delivery services will continue without restriction.
Wedding Halls
The notification also imposes strict timing limits on marriage-related events. All marriage halls, banquet venues, farmhouses, and even wedding functions held at private residences must conclude by 10:00 PM.
The order has been circulated to key provincial, federal and local authorities, including the Islamabad Police, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Ministry of Interior, and media regulators, directing wide public dissemination and strict enforcement.
Businesses and event organizers are expected to comply immediately once the order comes into force.

Funny
Govt can impose curfews when it wants . But fails to do price control in last many years.
Meaning is intentional
It should be 6PM rather than 8PM. Also this should be a permanent thing.
awwam jagti hi 8 baje hai lol
Sai kaha.
We need to change this habit.
This is the 1990 control list that you have shown in G-Picture. People are becoming stupid and will become even more stupid.
