Heatwave Alert Issued for Multiple Districts from April 11

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a heat alert through its National Emergencies Operation Center, warning of a likely rise in temperatures across Sindh and parts of southern Punjab from April 11.

According to the advisory, temperatures are expected to increase gradually after April 11, with the possibility of a heatwave developing in several districts. The NDMA said nighttime temperatures may remain 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal, while daytime temperatures could rise by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius.

Districts including Dadu, Jacobabad, Larkana and surrounding areas are expected to remain under intense heat conditions. Jamshoro, Qambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki, Khairpur, Sanghar, Umerkot and Kashmore are also likely to be affected.

The advisory further stated that areas such as Jhal Magsi, Usta Muhammad and Dera Murad Jamali may also experience a significant increase in temperatures. In southern Punjab, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan have also been placed under heatwave alert.

The NDMA has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during daytime hours and ensure increased water intake. Special precautions have been urged for vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children and outdoor workers.

The authority said it is continuing to monitor the evolving weather situation and is sharing timely information with relevant departments and the public, while also encouraging citizens to stay updated through the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application.
