Apple is expected to introduce its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Fold, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series this September. New case mold images shared by Sonny Dickson provide an early look at how the device compares in size to the upcoming Pro models.
The images suggest the iPhone Fold will feature a wider form factor than typical smartphones, aligning with earlier reports. The device appears shorter than both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
The foldable is expected to include a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.76-inch internal screen when unfolded. Both panels are rumored to be wider than those found on existing foldable devices.
The device may also feature an interface similar to an iPad, with support for side-by-side applications.
The iPhone Fold is expected to include a dual rear camera system with two 48MP sensors, covering wide and ultrawide photography.
The cameras are likely to be housed in a raised module similar to the design seen on the iPhone Air.
Foxconn, Apple’s manufacturing partner, has reportedly begun trial production of the foldable device in China.
However, a report from Nikkei Asia indicates that Apple has encountered challenges during the engineering test phase. As a result, several suppliers have been informed that component production could be delayed indefinitely.
If the issues are not resolved soon, the launch of the iPhone Fold may be pushed back by several months.
