The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced that the National Equivalence Board (NEB) examination will be held on May 16, 2026, offering an opportunity for Pakistani students studying medicine abroad to continue their education in Pakistan.
According to PMDC Chairperson Dr Rizwan Taj, the exam will be particularly beneficial for students affected by the ongoing tensions linked to the Iran–Israel conflict, allowing them to return to Pakistan without losing academic time.
The NEB exam evaluates the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional competence of students who have partially completed their medical or dental education abroad and wish to transfer to Pakistani institutions.
PMDC said the exam will take place in Rawalpindi, while the online registration portal will remain open from April 9 to April 24, 2026.
Students who have completed at least two years of study and reached the third year in foreign medical or dental institutions are eligible to sit the examination.
Passing the NEB exam is required for admission or transfer to medical colleges in Pakistan for the next academic session.
PMDC also highlighted that the exam provides an opportunity for students currently studying in Iran to appear for the test and continue their education in Pakistan.
The council advised students and parents considering foreign medical education to carefully evaluate security conditions and long-term academic prospects before making decisions.
PMDC added that details regarding the exam schedule, syllabus, and examination center are available on its official website, urging candidates to complete their registration within the specified deadline.
