Educational institutions in Islamabad will remain closed for four days, as authorities have announced local holidays in the federal capital on April 9 and 10.
With Thursday and Friday declared local holidays by the Islamabad administration, and Saturday and Sunday already falling on the weekend for most schools and colleges, students in the capital are set to get a four-day closure.
The decision was notified by the Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad, which said the holidays would be observed within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory. However, essential government offices and public service departments will continue functioning.
While the official notification does not specifically mention educational institutions, the closure effectively means schools and colleges in the capital will remain shut during this period.
However, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has clarified that all exams scheduled for April 9 and 10 will be held as per routine.
The Federal board has stated students appearing in examinations during these dates would take their papers at their designated exam centers in Islamabad according to the announced schedule.
The move comes amid heightened administrative and security arrangements in Islamabad ahead of expected high-level diplomatic activity later this week.
Pakistan is reportedly set to host talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad following a reported two-week ceasefire between the two sides.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also publicly welcomed the ceasefire and invited both sides to hold talks in the capital, giving Islamabad a key diplomatic role at a sensitive regional moment.

تعلیم حکمرانوں کی نظر میں ایک فضول سا کام ہے۔قوم کا وقت ضائع ہوتا ہے اس کو بچانے کےلئے تعلیمی اداروں کو بند رکھنا ضروری ہے ۔
Not all schools close 😔
This is the only country in the world where such holidays are declared either without any reason or for the most minor issues. There was in logic for the offices and schools to closed simply because a high level meeting is to take place in Islamabad on 10 April. Such meetings are a routine in several countries but there are no holidays.
