Syed Asif Haider Shah has suspended the annual honorarium for employees and officers of the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department (SGA&CD), leaving more than 1,000 government employees without the allowance.
According to officials, the recommendation submitted by the secretary of the department for the release of the annual honorarium was rejected, and the allocated funds for the fiscal years 2025 and 2026 were not distributed.
Sources said the proposal had been forwarded to the Sindh Finance Department for approval after being sent by the chief secretary, but the payment was ultimately halted.
Employees expressed concern over the decision, stating that they often work beyond official hours but were still deprived of the annual honorarium this year, causing financial difficulties for many staff members.
