Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed today that he received a “warm and substantive” telephone call from French President Emmanuel Macron, who acknowledged Pakistan’s role in facilitating the recent ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
“I deeply appreciate his kind words as well as his good wishes for the success of the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad,” the premier wrote.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Sharif said that President Macron congratulated Pakistan on its sincere efforts in bringing both sides to the negotiating table and expressed his good wishes for the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad.
“Pakistan will continue to work with its partners and friends, including France, to ensure that this opportunity leads to a durable and lasting peace,” the Prime Minister added.
The leaders also discussed the escalating situation in Lebanon, emphasizing the urgent need to end ongoing aggression and prevent further loss of innocent lives.
PM Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting diplomatic solutions that restore peace and stability across the region.
